Build Stronger Joints. Move Better. Train for Life.

Strength and mobility training in Reykjavík designed for active adults who want to stay strong, pain-free, and athletic for decades.

Is Training with
One Island right for you?

• You want to move like an athlete, but you often feel stiff or injury-prone

• Your shoulders, hips, or knees hurt when you train

• You want to stay strong and capable into your 40s, 50s, 60s, and beyond.

• You care about moving well, not just working out harder

Many Training Programs Break You Down rather than Building You Up

Many workouts focus on burning calories or lifting heavier without consideration for building the joint strength and movement capacity your body actually needs to sustain continued growth well into adulthood.

First off, fat loss comes from long walks and good decisions at the dining table. The gym is for getting strong and building lean, capable muscle mass.

Secondly, constantly pushing your weights to the max without consideration for variety of movement is why so many people experience:

• tight hips
• shoulder and back pain
• recurring injuries
• plateaus in performance

The One Island Strength Philosophy

Move Better, Move More, Move Stronger, Move Faster

Not everyone will start from the same place, but—in general—all OIS athletes will travel along the same path and continuously address all of the following:

Move Better

Restore mobility where your body is restricted

Move More

The first few weeks of most programs will incorporate higher volume sets in order to accumulate more reps and allow the athlete to improve movement mechanics and develop strength through full ranges of motion, within all planes of motion..

Move Stronger

Improve nervous system activation and adaptation.
Decrease reps per set and increase weights as stability and control improves.

Move Faster

Train the body and the nervous system to move as one, well-oiled machine—One Island of Strength.

Muscles do not work in isolation, but rather as one complex system. True athletes are able to react to changing situations and rapidly produce well-organized forces.

Life is unpredictable—and Iceland is, well, icey and often presents us with slippery situations. Whether or not you compete in a sport, if you want to remain strong, healthy, and capable, it is time to start thinking of yourself as an athlete.

About Chase
& One Island Strength

I've always loved to move and to compete with myself and others,

but at the age of 22, I fractured my femur playing racquetball and needed reconstructive hip surgery—and then I really began to appreciate how much it had meant to me.

I’d spent over a year on crutches when my hip recollapsed and a replacement was necessary. Financial complications kept me from my next surgery for another 4 years. My muscles atrophied and my body mechanics were a mess.

Despite over a decade of chronic pain, my hunger for physicality drove me to search for a way back. Eventually, I was able to self-correct my alignment, regain my athleticism and find a renewed comfort in my own skin. This physical freedom inspired me to help others get the most out of their own bodies.

I left my job as an Emmy-winning motion graphics designer and became certified as a yoga instructor, personal trainer, Functional Range Conditioning (FRCms, FRCa) specialist, Nutrition Coach, and massage therapist. I learned that the body is a complex system and resolving pain and movement issues more often than not requires a holistic, full body approach.

I love to coaching and I remain hungry for knowledge and the best methods to serve my athletes.
